Light drizzle, a sunset rainbow spanning the sky, smell of popcorn, sitting in a small football stadium watching a small university team's opening football game with a herd of family members. What a terrific way to spend Saturday night. (And the "right" team won!)
The afternoon started with a birthday party and indoor picnic for the 10 year old. Six kids, three sets of us grandparent-types, and three sets of parents -- my husband laughed at one point "I'll be glad when we get to the game where it is quieter." Some truth in that. Enjoyable extended family, I am reveling in the joy of sharing faith family as well as "blood" family, wanting to hug the evening to myself and preserve the moments eternally.
