Welcome to the Penguin's Ponderings

Mostly the meandering thoughts of a plain vanilla recently retired gal that likes to read, travel, and is establishing life now with new rules and a new environment with a trusty spouse that is a best friend as well.

Concert in the Park

Ahh the lazy summer - and the last concert in the park performed courtesy of the local city band was Wednesday night. We had talked about going to the concerts every week, but had managed to avoid actually hauling ourselves to the park each Wednesday night. Since this was the last one of this season, it was ample motivation to attend the event.

Beautiful evening - trees providing a ceiling of greenery and shade and the temperature dropping from 90 degrees to low 80s to high 70s with a nice breeze floating through the park. Small town (relatively speaking) so parking was a snap, short walk to the middle of the park and the angel of music even saved us a spot on one of the very few park benches - most attendees had the foresight to BYOC - (bring your own chairs)

City band, mostly brassy selections that were well done and most enjoyable. The treat, while listening to the music, was people watching. Ahhh - parks when the local populace is in attendance! A mom and her daughter (maybe 4 or 5) playing leapfrog together as an accompaniment to the band.... a young man pushing his bicycle through the grass with a kid buggy attached behind occupied by two wee ones all pulled by 2 dogs on leashes that were definitely the main power source for the movement of the bicycle... a little 2 or 3 year old girl with red curly hair dancing and dancing and dancing around her Dad and sisters - around the trees ... so much fun to watch.

One of those moments in time that feeds my faith in family, people, and the planet. Lord knows, we all need more of those moments. Really nice evening that makes me feel all warm, fuzzy, and snuggly.
