Sitting in the drive-up coffee lane at a favorite java joint watching the colors splash across the clouds and sky as the sun awakes another day.... the barista (Jennifer) knows I slurp up the left-over Easter Peeps that were once a "Power to the Peep" latte. She is quite the artiste and some of her fellow baristas have taken up my banner.
Simple joys - lovin' looking at the silly little peep amidst the coffee foam, just nesting there.... and then I become cannibalistic as the peep melts and becomes a marshmallow mush mixed with the java flavor - a simple joy?? why not?
Better simple joys - the sunrise as God paints a new artwork each morning - so easy to miss as we are so self-absorbed and more concerned about what awaits at work or the person that cut us off just ahead....
raindrops on roses is a good start, but then I depart from the song
good coffee in the morning
cuppa tea in the afternoon
dancing in the drizzle, face up drinking in the moisture
watching a mountain stream bubble and boil over the rocks and limbs
trees and shrubs and grass budding in the spring AND the leaves turning in the fall
memories of family and friends - mother's shoes and her favorite places to eat, the first time the grandson called me "Grandma" - "gammah", when my husband walks up and rubs my shoulders, laughter ..... so many more
Welcome to the Penguin's Ponderings
Mostly the meandering thoughts of a plain vanilla recently retired gal that likes to read, travel, and is establishing life now with new rules and a new environment with a trusty spouse that is a best friend as well.
