We have, in our country, such an entitlement-centered philosophy as a people and both Democrats and Republicans have degenerated into squabbling spoiled 2-year-olds that are determined to win and also to be sure that the “other” side loses. Throw into that mix a bunch of greedy lobbyists that represent even more greedy special interest groups and then mix thoroughly with the 24 – 7 idiots in the media – Fox and CNN are probably the worst of each end of the spectrum, but the rest of the media bunch are not much better. It makes a nauseating, festering, useless, nasty mixture.

It amazes me that so many of these Congressmen and women are so pompous and self-important. They appear to honestly believe that they are the elite - the best of society. God help us.

Neither party has the good of the American people at heart – they have their own pension and supplements and could not care less about the rest of the country as long as they can dupe their constituents into believing that they are “there for them.” Most new Congressmen probably go to Washington and mean well initially, however power brokers and the system of favors and lobbyists in our country is soon overwhelming and few can resist entering into the insidious DC power structure. Most of us seem to think that “our” representative/senator is either honest and hard working or doing the best they can – I have not felt that way for a long time.
Term limits need to be imposed, lobbying needs to be suspended or severely limited, and benefits to Congress needs to be reduced to a more realistic amount.
I realize that part of the problem lies with the 24 hour news spew, we are now much more informed - with useless or inaccurate information - about the shenanigans of government. The lines of factual news and opinion have become hopelessly blurred. Corruption is not new and has been in place with favors traded for settling laws since the inception of government, but the slanted reporting that invades our homes is incredible. And I don't watch much of it for that reason.

However the current gridlock and vicious partisan squabbling is tearing our county apart. What a crock of crap our government has become. It’s a wonder the USA has survived this long – and it has not all just happened in the last 7 months or the last 2 years – it has been a long time growing cancer fueled by both political parties and constantly fueled by the media. Both liberal and conservative media are nothing more than propaganda pushers each trumpeting their own specific beliefs. Almost every issue becomes a ridiculous smoke screen that involves making “themselves” – whichever side is it – look good AND the other side look bad. It all makes me sick, very depressed, and discouraged.

If Sarah Palin and Nancy Pelosi are the "best" of each party, voting becomes problematic. I can't even pick the lesser of the evils with those choices. They both live in such a fantasy land, I can't even fathom where either of them get their misinformation - oh wait - it's called fiction.

The Lord is ultimately in control and thankfully I look there for my peace in this daily life. Several friends have talked about praying for the right outcome in our country, which we should. Just as all throughout history, we stupid humans have gotten ourselves into this mess, often shouting the name of God as on “our” side.
I know I operate much more at peace when I choose God’s side rather than trying to claim that He is on MY side.
OK – well….. sigh….. pause…….
